Welcome to the website of Altofts Community and Sports Foundation (ACSF). Here we will try to keep you up to date with the latest position in relation to our plans to improve and develop better social, sporting and community facilities in the wider Altofts area.

ACSF is a registered charity (No. 1142340) formed in June 2011. The charity has been established to provide a registered body which can liaise with the Council and other statutory and potential funding bodies, in order to deliver our aims and objectives. This charitable status allows ACSF to bid for funding and grants that are not available to non-charitable organisations.

The principal partners of ACSF are:

The partners are fully supported and advised by Wakefield Council.

ACSF has recently been generously gifted The Brig, formerly the Lee Brigg WMC. Members of the former WMC realised some years ago that a new business model was needed to ensure the long term sustainability of the social aspect provided by the club for over 100 years. ACSF are now working hard to make The Brig an attractive venue for a whole range of community and social events. A major refurbishment of the concert room in the summer of 2013 has been followed by improvements to the exterior of the building and the car park during 2014.

ACSF has secured a 30 year lease on two areas of land in the Altofts area from the Council. These sites will now be improved and developed over the next few years to provide improved community open areas, additional sports pitches, extended parking and changing facilities. These two sites are:

  • Church Road football pitches (approximately six acres)
  • Land at St Mary’s Road and behind Martin Frobisher School (approximately eight acres)

Development of these two sites is estimated to take until the summer of 2018 to be fully complete. Once the Project has been delivered ACSF will be wholly responsible for the maintenance of these two sites.
